Preparing to become a truck driver can be stressful and exciting at the same time. If you’re just beginning the process of investigating what it takes to become a trucker, you may be wondering about the process and especially what to expect when it comes to truck driver testing.
Some of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to truck driver testing include things like:
- How much will it cost? The process begins with obtaining a commercial learner’s permit application, which costs about $20. After that, you have the additional fees for the CDL permit, the CDL, and a basic Class A CDL, putting the total at slightly above $100 for the most basic CDL, which is reasonable. Of course, if you are interested in more endorsements, there will be additional fees.
- What preparation do I need? You need to be able to pass a written test and a skills test, which means your best option is to enroll in our school, where we will provide you with classroom instruction and highway experience.
- How many different tests are there? There are two different tests, the written knowledge test and the skills application test. You should also be prepared to pass the DOT drug test, as driving under the influence isn’t permissible.
- Will I be able to get a job directly after? There is always a high demand for drivers with a Class A or higher CDL, which means your chances of obtaining a job are extremely good.
